Landback is a game that combines platforming, puzzle-solving, and farming mechanics. In the overworld, besides choosing which levels to play, you can manage your own farm by growing crops and collecting items. These resources will help you overcome the challenges of the levels more easily. These leves are actually mini-games from a TV show in which you can win money.

In a world where land is a limited and highly contested resource, everyone lives on floating islands in the skies. You and your family have been displaced to a lower level and must now start over. To rebuild your lives, you'll need to construct a new home, develop your farm, and produce food while completing levels to gather Materials (the local currency). These resources will allow you to acquire items essential for your family's survival.

No overworld, além de selecionar as fases que deseja enfrentar, você poderá gerenciar sua própria fazenda, cultivando alimentos e coletando itens. Esses recursos serão valiosos para ajudá-lo a superar os desafios das fases de forma mais eficiente. Essas fases, na verdade, são pequenos jogos de um show de TV nos quais você pode ganhar dinheiro.

Em um mundo onde a terra é um recurso limitado e disputado, todos vivem em ilhas flutuantes nos céus. Você e sua família foram despejados para um nível inferior e agora precisam recomeçar. Para reconstruir suas vidas, será necessário erguer uma nova casa, desenvolver sua fazenda e produzir alimentos, enquanto completa níveis para obter Materiais (moeda local). Esses recursos permitirão adquirir itens que serão cruciais para garantir a sobrevivência da sua família.
